1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Danki, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the app.
2. Use of the App
Danki provides Japanese study tools. Available content and features depend on the app version and your access: a free catalog may be offered, and Danki Pro unlocks local study content. Hosted progress sync is currently unavailable while it is redesigned. Current Pro prices, billing periods, and purchase terms are shown before you buy. You agree not to misuse the app or help anyone else do so. This section does not limit rights granted for third-party licensed material described below.
3. User Data
You can study locally without a Danki account. Study progress, settings, manual mnemonics, and mnemonic CSV imports are stored on your device. Account sign-in may be used to link eligible Pro purchases. Automated progress sync uploads and pulls are paused, and previously stored cloud data is retained under the Privacy Policy. Imported mnemonic files and story text are not included in progress sync. See the Privacy Policy for providers, retention, and deletion choices.
4. Purchases and Subscriptions
Apple handles purchases made through its in-app purchase system. Google Play handles the one-time paid download of the Android edition, which includes local study content without an additional in-app subscription. Where website checkout is offered, Paddle is the Merchant of Record and handles the charge. Monthly and annual Pro plans renew automatically unless canceled through the provider where you purchased them. Danki Pro covers local study content on editions that offer it. No new Sync subscription is currently offered, and Pro purchase linking does not upload study progress. A lifetime Pro purchase or a qualifying original paid-app purchase grants permanent Pro content access. Cancellation, refunds, and access after a refund are described in the Refund Policy.
5. Intellectual Property
Danki's design, code, owner-authored content, and identified assets are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Danki does not claim ownership of mnemonic text you import. Kanji data, dictionary data, stroke-order information, and other third-party materials are used under their respective licenses.
6. User-Selected Mnemonic Files
Danki does not provide or host a Koohii mnemonic collection. If you use the optional CSV importer, the file is selected by you, processed on your device, and stored as local app data. Danki never receives your Koohii credentials or imported story text.
7. Other Licensed Material
Kanji data, dictionary data, stroke-order information, software libraries, and other third-party materials are used under their respective licenses and notices shown in the app. Nothing in these Terms narrows rights granted by those licenses.
8. Disclaimer
Danki is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
